Sennheiser Accentum has long battery life and sound quality that exceeds expectations

Accentum has a wide sound field, and its mid-high and low-frequency performance is quite average. (provided by the manufacturer)

The wireless headphone war has spread to the headphone market. Sennheiser recently released the entry-level headphone Accentum locally, providing a more affordable option for music enthusiasts. How does this headset perform?

Exterior
The appearance design of Accentum is very low-key and simple. The headphones tested are black, mainly made of plastic material, without any decoration at all. Even the Sennheiser logo on the end of the headband is not obvious and can only be seen at a certain angle. The headset weighs only about 220 grams and is not burdensome to wear. The artificial leather earmuffs are very soft and can completely wrap your ears, making them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

It is a pity that the manufacturer does not include a headphone storage box, which will be a bit inconvenient to carry when commuting or traveling. In addition, Accentum only has one USB-C charging port and no 3.5mm interface. Users can only use Bluetooth to connect, and cannot connect to aircraft entertainment systems or other audio equipment through wires.

This headset only provides physical buttons, which are located under the right earphone and include four buttons: play, volume increase and decrease, and power. Sennheiser is very considerate and designed a raised dot on the play button to make it easy for users to find the right button by touch. There will be obvious mechanical feedback when pressing the button, which enhances the interactive experience between the user and the device and improves the accuracy of the operation.

The control method is easy to use. Click the play button to play or pause music, double-click to jump to the next song, and click three times to rewind to the previous song. If in call mode, click to answer or hang up the call, double-click to answer the call. Switch to another call. In addition, double-clicking the power button switches between active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode.

sound quality
The headset is equipped with two 37mm sound units and supports Bluetooth 5.2 and audio encodings such as aptX HD, AAC and SBC. Although it is just a mid-price earphone, the sound quality of Accentum exceeds expectations, with a wide sound field. The earphone is slightly bass-focused, but the mid-high and low-frequency performance is quite average, and the timbre is delicate.

If you don’t like the default sound of the headphones, you can set your favorite sound through the 5-band equalizer (EQ) in the Sennheiser Smart Control app. The equalizer also provides some presets, such as rock, pop, dance, hip-hop, jazz, etc., and the choices are quite rich.

The active noise reduction performance is excellent. For example, it can greatly reduce the roar of aircraft engines when flying. It can also effectively reduce the interference of human voices and noise in buses or subways, helping to improve the immersive effect of listening to music or watching movies. Accentum has an anti-wind noise mode, which can effectively reduce wind noise interference and bring a more comfortable listening experience.

Battery
According to the manufacturer's data, the Accentum can be used for up to 50 hours after being fully charged, and this is still in ANC mode, so if ANC is turned off, the battery life will be longer. The reporter only charged it once after two weeks of use, so the 50-hour battery life claimed by the manufacturer is quite reliable. In addition, this headset supports fast charging - just 10 minutes of charging can extend the listening time by 5 hours.
